Youngest sibling, Andrea Corr of family band, The Corrs, played a sold-out set at Glasgow’s Oran Mor last week, to coincide with the release of her latest solo effort, Lifelines.

Since The Corr’s hiatus in 2006, Andrea has pursued a solo career, releasing debut effort, Ten Feet High in 2007, where she ditched her trademark tin whistle and folk pop, in favour of a more mature, darker, electro pop sound. Ten Feet High was produced by Bono and failed to gain Andrea mainstream success or credible recognition, however, undeterred by her first sour solo experience, Andrea has returned with, Lifelines, her unique take on some of her favourite songs.

Still every inch the sultry songstress, Andrea took to the stage in an elegant backless dress, and effortlessly seduced her audience, with her stunning vocals, and captivating stage presence. Stand out tracks from the gig and the album, include, The Velvet Underground’s, Pale Blue Eyes, and lead single, Tinsletown In The Rain.

However, it was sprinklings of her hits with her sibling that whipped the audience into a frenzy, with Dreams and Breathless, proving a hit with the punters, fuelling speculation that, even after a 5 year break, there is still a niche for the family band’s own brand of pop/rock and folk. Lifelines has brought Andrea back to her best – unique cover versions the element that was instrumental in the success of The Corrs – their take on Fleetwood Mac’s, Dreams cemented their stellar reputation in 1997.

As with her days as frontwoman of The Corrs, Andrea captured her audience with effortless ease throughout her solo slot, and, even though she may never achieve the recognition or credit that she so deserves as a solo performer, no one can deny her envious beauty and natural talent, as one of the most under-rated female performers of our generation.
