Fast Five: Annaca

When did you begin making music, and did you ever ponder a different career?

Not really, music has always been in my bones. I started creating music when I was really little, but the first song I finished was when I was 13.

How would you describe your music?

I’d describe it as soulful, jazzy, dramatic and fun.

What have you been up to so far and what can we expect over the coming months?

I’ve been writing and recording with producer Jim Lowe (who has previously worked with Stereophonics) to create my new EP, which is out on the 24th June. I’ve collaborated with Lightscape music to create a music video for the new single Haunted. I’ve also just had a big showcase at the beautiful St Pancras Old Church to celebrate the launch of the new EP.

Over the coming months there is the release of the EP. Throughout the summer months we’re going to be performing at a few festivals including Beach Break, Transcend Festival and the International Youth Arts Festival. I’ve also got plenty of new songs up my sleeve, so new music is just around the corner.

If you could duet with anybody who would it be and why?

There are too many wonderful artists to choose from! It’d be awesome to do a duet with Nick Cave; he’s such a cool guy. I can imagine us writing something dark and dangerous together.

What’s your desert island disc and why would you take this one album?

It would have to be, You Are Free by Cat Power. You may think that’s a bit of a gloomy choice, but I’m never not in the mood for that album.
