How did you meet and what’s the story behind your band name?

I met John on the first day of uni. Joe is my brother. I was trying to come up with a title for a movie that was cheesy, but rolled off the tongue at the same time; this one seemed to stick!

How would you describe your music?

I think the musical basis for a lot of the tunes are 80s movie soundtracks and video-game music, and I think that’s just from playing those games and watching all those films when we were kids. There’s a big sci-fi element in there as well, because I’m pretty into U.F.Os and stuff, and I love the sound of all those Spacey E.L.O albums like Time and Out of the Blue. So yeah, if you can imagine what a band with those influences might sound like: that’s us!

What have you been up to so far and what can we expect over the coming months?

So far we’ve just been rehearsing and trying to get the gear together. We’ve had a couple of gigs that went pretty well, so we’re just looking to do some more and just improve the live side of it really. Get some cool lights and lasers and stuff. We have a lot of tunes, but were just trying to get the cash together to record them all properly, so we can use them live. But we have a good few recorded so we’ll be putting a lot more stuff out D.I.Y in the coming months.

If you could duet with anybody who would it be and why?

Jeff Lynne I think. If the guys out of Justice sang, maybe with them because they totally changed music for me, but Jeff Lynne because theres something about the sound of the E.L.O records that gets me every time. And I love the effect and that space-y sheen he gets on his vocal. It’s really cool.

What’s your desert island disc and why would you take this one album?

“Flashback” by E.L.O. There is a lot to get into in those tunes; it would keep me going the longest till I eventually did myself in.
