When did you begin making music, and did you ever ponder a different career?
I started playing music at a very young age, and started writing songs as a young teenager. I knew from the beginning that I’d have a career in music, whatever aspect of the music industry; I have always been drawn to it. I’m just lucky enough to be able to play music as a career
How would you describe your music?
My music comes from a very honest place. I’m a self-taught musician, so my style is very raw, heart-on-my-sleeve music mixed with good time rock n roll. Having an eclectic taste in music, my writing style is not “A-typical”, but I think the best way to describe it is interestingly original, but familiar, blended with the humble sounds of the South.
What have you been up to so far and what can we expect over the coming months?
I’ve been focused on writing more songs and shaping my live set to include more upbeat rockin’ tunes while simultaneously getting ready to release this record. I’m working on music videos and other interesting things that will be released in the coming months leading up to the album release in Spring 2018.
If you could duet with anybody who would it be and why?
Hmmm… that’s a question I’ve really never considered. I’ve always been kind of a lone wolf, but I think that if I collaborated with Anderson East we’d come up with some good songs. He’s got such a soulful voice, that I quite frankly envy. I’d love to hear him sing my song Something For Me. Anderson East’s album Delilah is one that is in constant rotation on my playlist.
What’s your desert island disc and why would you take this one album?
It’d have to be Physical Graffiti by Led Zeppelin. Zeppelin is my all time favourite band, and this record is so diverse that it gives you the full spectrum of rock n roll. It is one of the best records of all time, and really showcases the bands talent at the pinnacle of their career. Led Zeppelin’s music is masterful, and will stand the test of time.
