When did you begin making music, and did you ever ponder a different career?
I started to sing the day I could speak a word. I used to drive my parents crazy, dancing and singing around the house. I used to put shows on at my Nan’s house with my sisters, and we pretended to be the Spice Girls. Of course I was always in charge of who sang what. However, I never started to make music of my own until I was 17. I always lacked confidence in my ability to write songs and produce a sound of my own. But my step father was my biggest fan, as well as my biggest critic! He pushed me to write music every day and I am so grateful he did. Music has always been at the heart of who I am and I can honestly never see myself doing anything else.
How would you describe your music?
I would like to consider my music a new type of country. I wanted to take the rich country sounds of America and merge them with a urban London sound. Which I hope I have achieved. I am a London girl through to my roots with a deep love for country music, and this something I wanted to portray in my songs.
What have you been up to so far and what can we expect over the coming months?
I have dedicated all my attention to date on making my music, learning my craft and pin pointing my sound. I now feel I am ready to show you all who I am and what my music’s about. I have so many songs that I want to share with you all, and I hope the next step will be some live events to share this experience with you all.
If you could duet with anybody who would it be and why?
I would love to bring Tina Turner out of retirement for just one track, but I think this is because I am such a big fan. I don’t know if she would be too interested in a country pop single with Binky.
What’s your desert island disc and why would you take this one album?
One album I will never get tired of listening too will have to be Adele’s 25 album. I would take all three if I could. But 25 is just a complete work or art. Every song is an inspiration.
