Fast Five: Dawn Landes & Piers Faccini

How did you meet and what’s the story behind your band name?

I first heard Dawn’s music via a benefit compilation cd we were both on for Hurricane Katrina. A year later Dawn was touring near my home and we met up and recorded a song together.
We both liked it so we decided to do more, a couple of sessions later we had an ex’s worth of songs.

How would you describe your music?

For Desert Songs I think Dawn and I bring various and complimentary things to the table, folk meets Americana meets West African inspired riffs.

What have you been up to so far and what can we expect over the coming months?

Dawn is busy touring with Sufian Stevens as part of his band and I’m working on my next album, out in autumn.

If you could duet with anybody who would it be and why?

It would have to be the ghost of Sandy Denny, her voice was pure perfection..

What’s your desert island disc and why would you take this one album?

I think I’d take something instrumental as I’d be listening to it over and over again. I’d opt for Bach’s solo cello suites played by Rostropovitch
