Fast Five: JAWS

MTTM

Triangle

How did you meet and what’s the story behind your band and name?

We all met at Halesowen College where we were all studying Music Technology. I had previously put the demo song Cameron on the internet and it’s first week it gained quite a lot of interest so I decided to get a band together.

The name comes from the bad dude from the James Bond movies, he’s just a really nice guy…he has teeth made out of steel so I’m not really going to say anything bad about him.

How would you describe your music?

Erm, NME described us as “Surf Pop” and I guess that’s a term we’ve all become comfortable with. And we’ve been told we sound like “Ian Curtis on holiday in LA” which I’m not going to exactly moan about. All I can say is if you like Michael Jackson’s The Way You Make Me Feel then you’ll probably like JAWS.

What have you been up to so far and what can we expect over the coming months?

So far we’ve been playing shows where ever and when ever we can, recently we’ve had almost a month off from playing gigs to go and record our new single Toucan Surf which you can expect to be out soon. I guess over the coming months we’ll see where the single takes us but we’d love to just play more shows and for more people to hear our music.

If you could duet with anybody who would it be and why?

Michael Jackson, The guy just has some absolute bangers

What’s your desert island disc and why would you take this one album?

I actually don’t think I could live without Enema Of The State by Blink 182. It’s the first album I got with my own money and it’s just my favourite collection of songs of all time.
