Fast Five: Joe Lewis

When did you begin making music, and did you ever ponder a different career?

I began making music in my early teens playing in bands with friends. Unfortunately, music does not pay my bills and will always be something that I do for enjoyment and fun rather than a career. I work as a teaching assistant in a primary school alongside singing songs, which is really lovely.

How would you describe your music?

I’d say as a genre ‘folk punk pop’. Its an upbeat, honest mixture of the three.

What have you been up to so far and what can we expect over the coming months?

So far I have released an EP called Branches for free via www.joerobertlewis.bandcamp.com, released and filmed a video for my latest single Paperchain which is out now via iTunes & Amazon, as well as having a song on Pierpoint Records ‘=The Christmas Chronicles Compilation Vol 1 in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust alongside some of my favourite bands. I’ve started playing lots of shows and this is something I’ll be doing a lot of in 2013. I’m also currently recording a new record which will be out in 2013.

If you could duet with anybody who would it be and why?

Bruce Springsteen. He’s the man, it would be bonkers.

What’s your desert island disc and why would you take this one album?

Hundred Reasons – Ideas above our station. I have no reason apart from its awesome. Perfect album.
