Fast Five: Jon Sandler

When did you begin making music, and did you ever ponder a different career?

I started writing songs when I was about 9 years old and have been writing and recording ever since. I also love the art of film making and actually went to college for film & television production.  I worked in that world for a few years before deciding that I needed to focus full time on music – my true love.

How would you describe your music?

My music is pop fusion.  It is definitely based in pop but has elements of other genres.

What have you been up to so far and what can we expect over the coming months?

The last year has been extremely exciting. We released a full length album called Late Night Champ, filmed two amazing music videos, did a US east coast tour, a small UK tour in and around London and performed at SXSW in Austin, Texas.  Coming up, We are planning to shoot another music video for our 3rd single and I am playing a couple shows opening for James McCartney (Paul’s son).

If you could duet with anybody who would it be and why?

The answer to this question changes often, but right now I would LOVE to collaborate with Jay Z.  I think he is brilliant.  I have also always wanted to write and perform with Elton John.

What’s your desert island disc and why would you take this one album?

I think I would have to go with The Beatles White Album because it’s amazing and epic and  has a ton of songs…if I can only bring one album, I want at least 30 songs.

Jon’s next single (Take My Time) is released on April 29th
