Fast Five: Katie Cole

When did you begin making music, and did you ever ponder a different career?

Started making music unprofessionally at age 8. Songs involved boys, time travel and bicycles. Then Professionally at age 20. But I’ve been a touring artist since I was 16. There are a lot of numbers here.

How would you describe your music?

Folk/Alternative/Rock. With flavours of country and Americana. A bacon an icecream sandwich for the ears.

What have you been up to so far and what can we expect over the coming months?

I’m Australian but I moved to LA around 3 years ago. Since then, I have won awards, had my music played in TV shows/movies, toured and recorded with country legend Glen Campbell, toured the country (most recently a tour for Pinktober at several hard Rock cafes, I’ve played at festivals like SXSW, NAMM, ASCAP expo, Sundance Film Festival….. next up my single is just being released in the UK in Feb followed by my full length record that features screen and music icon Kris Kristofferson. ….then another UK tour.

If you could duet with anybody who would it be and why?

I can’t narrow it down. I have Robbie Williams, Gavin Degraw and Brandon Flowers (from the Killers). They all have unique voices and I love their song styles. I also think they would have good stories to tell.

What’s your desert island disc and why would you take this one album?

I think maybe Thriller by Michael Jackson. Really amazing songs. But seriously, I mean, if I’m on a desert island, there’s nothing to do but tan, eat coconuts and swim…why not do something important like perfect my zombie dance.
