Fast Five: Lilygun

How did you meet and what’s the story behind your name?

We all met via mutual friends and just clicked. The name was just 2 words thrown together because it had to be original sounding but it turned out to be a pretty good representation of the band. Something beautiful inverted into darkness. Aggressive and heavy, soft and fragile.

How would you describe your music?

We had a review once and this guy called Rob Fernish wrote a brilliant line that described Lilygun’s music as a shower of bullets and petals! That really does sum it up.

What have you been up to so far and what can we expect over the coming months?

Dealing with a lot of bollocks in the past but now things are up and running and we feel we’ve come out of all that darkness smelling of roses! We’re about to release our debut album which we’re excited about and we have some cool gigs coming up too. At some point we want to play some acoustic gigs, they’re always really fun and maybe do one or two covers which we’ve never done before.

If you could duet with anybody who would it be and why?

Anna Christina – That’s really hard because there’s loads. Trent Reznor! He’s one of my idols.

Belle – I would duet with Diamanda Galas because she is amazing!

What’s your desert island disc and why would you take this one album?

Anna Christina – Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness by Smashing Pumpkins. Just an unbelievably beautiful album with many different vibes and a song for every mood. Plus it’s a double album too.

Belle – My desert island disc is Mechanical Animals by Marilyn Manson – an album full of diversity and breathtaking originality…
