When did you begin making music, and did you ever ponder a different career?
I began playing music from a young age when my dad handed me a half sized guitar at the age of about 5 or 6! He also handed me a football. As time went on and as much as I loved football I wasn’t good enough so had no choice but to go down the musical route! But in all honesty all i’ve ever really wanted to do was be a musician, singer and writer. Ever since I got on stage on holiday and sang ‘Born In The USA’ aged 6 I was hooked. I started writing properly aged 17 I’d say… wow there were some awful songs, but I’m a firm believer that if you write enough you’ll improve and stumble across some good ones one day!
How would you describe your music?
Although it’s very much pop music I’d say it’s different to what’s out in the charts at the moment. I’m mad for a good melody so I’d like to think my tracks are filled with hooks left right and centre, and accompanied by a darker emotional verse. I guess you’ll have to hear for yourself!
What have you been up to so far and what can we expect over the coming months?
My debut single ‘Lying For Love’ came out on the 18th August on Apple Music and Spotify, so it’s been a manic week or so! But I’m really excited it’s out there and really happy with the response it’s gotten so far. I had the song in the bank, so to speak, for quite a few months so it was hard to keep it under wraps, but now it’s out I couldn’t be happier. The music video drops very shortly so I’m really excited to see what everyone thinks! I’m also now starting to play shows again which is great as it’s the best part of the job, and over the next few weeks we’ll be announcing a nationwide tour, so keep your eyes out on my social media for dates etc!
If you could duet with anybody who would it be and why?
Being a Brit I’ll stay true to my roots and say Adele… you can’t get much bigger than that! Not only is she an unbelievably talented writer and singer, but I think we’d have a lot of fun making a record together. She seems like she’s always up for a laugh which is important!
What’s your desert island disc and why would you take this one album?
Impossible question….. As much as it’s a cop out I’d have to make my own… I’d have some of… The Eagles, One Republic, Michael Jackson, Maroon 5, Oasis & Coldplay on there. With that combination being stranded on a desert island wouldn’t faze me to much at all… until I ran out of battery.
