How did you meet and what’s the story behind your band name?
We met in Amsterdam, where we were both students at the Conservatory. After three years of knowing each other we decided that it was time to start something! The name is a chopped up spanish sentence that translates to ‚I am not I‘. It refers to our feeling while being on stage or writing music.
How would you describe your music?
We make authentic pop music, which means that we give our own twist to a catchy tune in story and personality. We like to keep our music minimalistic, so we base it on groove, melody and lyrics.
What have you been up to so far and what can we expect over the coming months?
We’ve been writing and recording a good amount of songs, also playin them live at support shows of for example The Dø or Jarryd James. We have now found our sound and are back in the studio. We plan to release our second single this spring.
If you could duet with anybody who would it be and why?
We both immediately thought of Sia, because she is an amazing songwriter and has an authentic voice & performance.
What’s your desert island disc and why would you take this one album?
Daim: Déjà Vu by Crosby Stills Nash & Young – because it is a timeless record and I imagine it will be sunny and warm on my island, so it suits the vibe. Those vocal harmonies will get me through the day.
Donata: Mind Games by John Lennon. Because his voice and his lyrics make me feel fierce and like I can tackle any challenge.
