Fast Five: Raglans

How did you meet and what’s the story behind your band name?

I met Rhos at an Irish music festival in 2010 in the wee hours and hit it off straight away and we decided to do some stuff together, Conn and Sean joined later and we started gigging properly in 2011. The name comes from a poem called ‘On Raglan Road’ by Patrick Kavanagh. It’s lovely, check it out.

How would you describe your music?

We like to play good songs in a fun, energetic way that will hopefully make people want to dance  and have a good time at our gigs. To us, that’s what going to gigs and seeing bands has always been about. If you aren’t sweaty leaving a gig, what’s the point? Haha

What have you been up to so far and what can we expect over the coming months?

Our debut album ‘Raglans’ is just about to be released in the UK and Ireland. We are heading on a 12 date UK tour in April and then festivals all summer, we will be releasing the album in Europe and America this year too so planning on doing some shows there too. It’s going to be a good year.

If you could duet with anybody who would it be and why?

Probably Samantha Mumba, she could use a hand. I’ve met her, she’s lovely!

What’s your desert island disc and why would you take this one album?

‘Raglans’ as I  couldn’t imagine not getting to listen to it again at some point! But if that’s cheating then probably ‘Definitely Maybe’ as I’m sure ‘Rock n Roll Star’ would give me the fire in my belly to build a hut or a raft out of my back hair or stave off depression for at least 40 minutes longer.
