Fast Five: Reverieme

When did you begin making music, and did you ever ponder a different career?

I started writing and playing music (ear-splittingly terrible music, I should add) when I was in my mid-teens. I’m a full-time English teacher at the moment, and have been for the past few years, so I’d say that thoughts of a different career went somewhat beyond the pondering stage.

How would you describe your music?

I’m quite the over-thinker, so my songs are often very reflective. My sound is generally quite poppy, though my parameters for what constitutes pop may be slightly broader than others’.

What have you been up to so far and what can we expect over the coming months?

I’ve been working on my new album, ‘Straw Woman’, and making sure it isn’t terrible before I unleash it on to innocent ears. I’ve also been working on videos to accompany songs from the album, as well as creating the artwork and lots of other necessary bits and pieces ahead of its release.

If you could duet with anybody who would it be and why?

I’m listening to ‘So’ as I write this, so it’d be remiss of me not to say Peter Gabriel, if only to get a shot in Real World (spot the deliberate error).

What’s your desert island disc and why would you take this one album?

I’m trying to think of albums I’ve listened to repeatedly in the past and would be able to enjoy in the same way for years to come; I reckon ‘If You’re Feeling Sinister’ by Belle and Sebastian is a good fit.
