How did you meet and what’s the story behind your band name?
The band was formed in London about 3 years ago. Marc, Kilian and I met first at a music school in West London, and Virgile and Toby came along a couple of years later. After time we had a collection of songs ready to play, but we didn’t have a name for the band. We decided it would be a good idea to go and play our songs across the UK, busking in all the cities as a way to get people to hear us, and to do a competition where people could pick a name for us. In the end we chose ‘Shake Shake Go’ which was chosen by a little boy named Archie in Sheffield who picked up our shaker and started playing with us.
How would you describe your music?
Its a mixture of pop, folk and indie music. Something raw and organic and strong.
What have you been up to so far and what can we expect over the coming months?
We released our debut EP in March this year, as well as being on tour around Europe supporting Talisco, Rodrigo Y Gabriella and James Blunt. We also got to experience our own first headline tour, which was surreal, and now we are working on our debut album.
If you could duet with anybody who would it be and why?
For me, I’m a big Bruce Springsteen fan. Ive gone to a couple of his gigs and I’m always listening to his albums, so it would be really cool to do anything that would involve even being near him!
What’s your desert island disc and why would you take this one album?
Arcade Fire – Neon Bible. If I could, I would take all the Arcade Fire albums. I already play it on repeat, and know I could never get bored of this album!
