How did you meet and what’s the story behind your band name?
We met in London. I can’t remember where exactly but it most likely involved pubs. Our name comes from the old English word for coins.
How would you describe your music?
We call our sound ‘Britwave’ – a mixture of Brit Pop swagger and New Wave attitude. We take influence from bands such as Suede, Dr. Feelgood, Elastica, Pulp and Elvis Costello and the Attractions.
What have you been up to so far and what can we expect over the coming months?
We have had a busy summer playing shows with The Bohicas, Spector and DMAs amongst others which has been great fun. We’ve also spent numerous hours on the Overground trying to film a music video…
If you could duet with anybody who would it be and why?
David Bowie. Like that one with Bing Crosby, you know? Except nothing like that. To be honest, I just want to meet David Bowie..
What’s your desert island disc and why would you take this one album?
Easy. Odyssey and Oracle by The Zombies. I only discovered this album a few years ago but it is one of the only LPs I can genuinely listen to day after day and never tire of it. The song writing is phenomenally good as are the harmonies which appear constantly throughout the album. It also has some brilliant keys on every track and Colin Bluntstone is so easy to listen to. No matter what the weather or what mood I’m in this album never fails to hit the spot.
