Fast Five: Talma

When did you begin making music, and did you ever ponder a different career?

We met at the University of Exeter and performed extensively while (not) studying. After graduating we changed line-up slightly, changed our name and worked on shaping our sound. Talma is the name of a female magician who invented the coin behind the ear trick.

How would you describe your music?

Inspired by artists such as The Smiths, The Cure, and David Bowie our sound has a classic alt-rock feel but also combines elements of math rock and shoe gaze to create a distinctive sonic atmosphere.

What have you been up to so far and what can we expect over the coming months?

Our debut single releases on June 13th! Our Debut EP is out later in the year. We have gigs lined up in London and the South of England so far.

If you could duet with anybody who would it be and why?

Has to be David Bowie…

What’s your desert island disc and why would you take this one album?

Pink Floyd – Wish You Were Here. It’s perfect.

You can hear our debut release ‘All Roads’ here. It is released on June 13th:
