When did you begin making music, and did you ever ponder a different career?
I started making music a little over 3 years ago… at my first photo shoot. That’s why I’m such an advocate for networking. I’ve been singing in church since I was old enough to talk, but never thought about making it a career until I was given the opportunity to be a songwriter and do reference vocals. I wrote a tonne of songs, but I wanted to sing them myself.
How would you describe your music?
In three words: real, raw and undefined. I’m influenced by so many different genres of music and I write and perform Hip Hop, R&B, Jazz, Soul, and Dance/Pop. I write about what is real to me because that’s what people can relate to. My song concepts are powerful, comical and sexy for obvious reasons.
What have you been up to so far and what can we expect over the coming months?
So far I’ve had two previous releases, Sneak Preview and Unleashed, but I’m currently working on a P.ublic S.ervice A.nnouncement (5 track album) that addresses outrageous social issues! For example:
To Kill A Baby – addresses violence against children:
Pull Them Pants Up – cracks down on dirty boxers and booty-cleavage:
The release date is set for April 22, 2013 and all album proceeds (for the first six months after release) go to charity. It’s my way of giving back to society.
If you could duet with anybody who would it be and why?
It would be Lauryn Hill, she’s an amazing musician, performer. She sings, raps and the messages in her music are inspirational and positive. She’s just dope!
What’s your desert island disc and why would you take this one album?
I’m taking Michael Jackson’s BAD album because it was sooooooooooo good! I love every single song. He’s the man ^_^
