Fast Five: Whitecliff

How did you meet and what’s the story behind your band name?

We met in Liverpool while we were all studying on the same course at LIPA. We got on alright, so thought we’d give it a go in a band to see if we still got on and could work together okay… Jonny came up with the name. He’s a proper beach boy even though he gets sunburnt faster than anyone else you will ever meet! I guess he picked that name because it reminds him of his holidays growing up.

How would you describe your music?

We would say we’re indie pop. British guitar band, meets The Killers.

What have you been up to so far and what can we expect over the coming months?

We’ve just recorded our debut EP Young Lovers, produced by Ken Nelson and mixed by Dan Grech which was an amazing experience! It’s being released in the UK on 9th October and in Germany on 30th October. At the moment we are writing and working on new songs and later this month we’ll be going back into the studio with Ken to continue recording our debut album. Also, we’re looking forward to the gigs we’ve got coming up this autumn, including Barfly, Notting Hill Arts Club, Propaganda club night, London, Liverpool Music Week and This Feeling club night at Night & Day, Manchester. Also, we’re really looking forward to touring Germany next year too.

If you could duet with anybody who would it be and why?

It has to be Kanye! He comes out with some great comments and love him or hate him, he is a genius. Whether he is designing or writing music, whatever he does, he makes it a hit!

What’s your desert island disc and why would you take this

This is really tough. We have a van playlist so everyone stays happy when we’re gigging. If we had to choose just one though, then it would have to be something by Michael Jackson… Thriller!
