Fast Five: Young Kato

How did you meet and what’s the story behind your band and name?

We met because Sam and Jack are step brothers and so we all kind of
knew each other through local schools etc and wanted to start a band
as I think thats what you want to do naturally after getting into and
listening to music. Joe (Green) thought of the name and eventually we
all agreed on it! Apparently it was inspired by a character from the
Green Hornet comic book series? Im not really sure, it can mean
whatever you want! I quite like the way none of us really know where
its come from.

How would you describe your music?

Big youthful pop songs.

What have you been up to so far and what can we expect over the
coming months?

So far we have done a fair few gigs, recorded an EP which is to be
released soon, put out our first single and are about to go out on a
short run of headline shows. Hopefully after that we will get back in
the studio and play more gigs, we just want to get our name out there
really at the moment and then hopefully we will get an album out at
some point soon.

If you could duet with anybody who would it be and why?

Probably Alex Turner. Im a huge fan of the Arctic Monkeys and I love
his lyrics and songwriting style. Hopefully it would be more of a
collaboration with the whole band rather than just a duet of me and
him, would be slightly weird just me playing bass and him singing!

What’s your desert island disc and why would you take this one album?

Foals – Total Life Forever. Never get sick of that album and love the
whole feel/mood of it!
