Friends Of Mine Festival 2011

For the creators of the Friends of Mine festival it has been a long time in the making.  Initially it started as a club night in Manchester promoting the best of unsigned artists as a showcase of their music and for some an essential springboard for their music career.  From then, due to the impressive organisation and calibre of performances the club night expanded across the UK and now – 6 years on – the very first Friends of Mine festival is about to take place.

In its inaugural year FOM fest boasts a seriously impressive line-up with headlining slots taken by the likes of The Cribs, The Charlatans and Bad Lieutenant, who have enough pull to festival tents individually, as three headliners they prove to be a tour de force challenging even the most established of festivals.

Others playing the festival include – Mr Scruff, The Lightning Seeds, Badly Drawn Boy, The Buzzcocks, The Phantom Band, Black Lips, Cherry Ghost, Twisted Wheel, Detroit Social Scene, The Heartbreaks (fresh from their recent role supporting The Pigeon Detective tour), The Fall, Young Knives and The Whip and already the festival is generating great word of mouth promotion with the likes of The Smiths Mike Joyce proclaiming that it has ‘Easily the best line-up I’ve ever seen for a festival.’

With 150 bands performing (not including the DJ sets and the live performances in the comedy tent) Friends of Mine seems set to make a notable debut to the festival circuit and for only £89.50 for a full weekend ticket (including camping) then you are certainly going to get your money’s worth.

FOM Fest is set to be an amazing start to the festival period.  Get your wellies on and your tent to hand and get ready to go.  You will not be disappointed.
