Essex trio Wild Combination have already received impressive praise from the likes of Q Magazine and Radio One’s Huw Stephens, and a quick listen to their debut single We are the Creatures is enough to prove the attention is not unfounded.
In a world of sleekly produced conveyor belt music, Wild Combination have a refreshingly DIY approach to their sound. The Essex boys, Christian Wright (keys and vocals), Daniel Williams (guitar) and Terry Clark (drums and vocals), have their own studio tucked away in the Essex countryside – a factor that is startlingly evident in the electronically fused whimsy of their debut single. The track is a floaty yet quirky breath of fresh air tinged with keyboards and guitar. It is a very promising start for these three lads.
Not content with having their own studio and a distinctly home-based sound, Wild Combination are also an extraordinarily generous lot. The trio are currently giving away a free track (The Love You Give is Worth More than Gold) on their Facebook page. Give in to curiosity and take a look!
