Benjamin Curtis from the band School of Seven Bells has been diagnosed with cancer. The news was broken by his band mate Alejandra Deheza who issued the following statement: “Dear Friends, It feels so surreal to be writing this to you. In fact I still can’t wrap my head or my heart around it, but here it goes. A few nights ago Benjamin was admitted to the hospital for symptoms that have been getting worse for a few weeks now. After a dozen tests and scans (which he’s endured like a champion), the doctors say it’s T-cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma. It developed pretty aggressively, and the chemotherapy to treat it will be pretty aggressive, but the good news is that it’s TREATABLE. These next few months will be tough, but he is the toughest person I know (even while here, he was trying to figure out a way to sample the MRI). I wanted to share this with you all, because you guys are such a huge and important part of our lives. Send all of the light and love that you can his way. Every bit will count towards a strong and fast recovery. I believe that with all of my heart. I will be doing the same. Love, Alley”
Toni Braxton has announced her retirement from the music industry. The Unbreak My Heart singer issued this statement announcing her decision: I’m just not going to do any albums anymore; maybe touring occasionally here and there because I love performing, but not as much as I did in the past. But no new projects. It’s not affecting me, making me feel that thing I’ve always felt when I perform,” she said. “It’s leaving me. I’m not sure what’s going on in my life. Maybe a female mid-life crisis? My heart isn’t in it anymore. I hate to say that.”
Coldplay have had to cancel their South American tour dates due to reasons beyond their control. The band has issued the following statement: “Dear friends in Latin America, We’re sad to say that, due to circumstances beyond our control, we’re unable to reschedule the postponed ‘Mylo Xyloto’ tour dates in 2013. For this we’re very sorry. It may seem small consolation now but we’ll definitely have your corner of the world at the front of our minds when the time comes to do it all again. Thank you for your incredible patience and support.”

Cecil Womack has passed away of the band Womack and Womack has passed away aged 65. His brother released this statement: “I was terribly upset when I heard about my brother’s passing, and I still am. We made music together for a long time, but we’ve had many differences over the years. Thankfully we got a chance to reunite last year after a very long separation – and little did I know that it would be the last time I would see him. I can only pass along what I have now learned, which is to not let anything – money, success, etc, come between you and your family.”
