It has been announced that Bonnie Tyler will be this year’s representative for the Eurovision Song contest. England has had a streak of poor entries in the past and the baton now falls to Tyler to help raise the profile of England’s involvement in Eurovision.
Rick Springfield was arrested March 8th due to missing an outstanding court date. Springfield was originally arrested under a DUI charge.
Kasabian’s Jay Mehler has quit the band. Not one to rest on his laurels he has joined the Beady Eye line up. Kasabian posted details on their Facebook page offering their well wishes to Mehler “Jay is our bro we’re all good and the last six years have been mega. He’s moving on and will be incredible in Beady Eye. We thought posting an awesome video was the best way to let you guys know that he will be missed, but here it is in black and white too.”
Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe has been acquitted of Manslaughter charges that were brought against him in Prague. Blythe has issued this letter since his acquittal.
I am leaving Prague now – I hope not to return for a long while. This has nothing to do with this city, the people who live here, or the Czech Republic itself at all. This is a wonderful place, and many people have been kind to me. Not a single soul here has been rude or mean to me at all, nor done me any harm – in fact it is quite the opposite. I have grown to love this city, for it is a marvelous, magical town. I encourage everyone to come visit here, to see this lovely country. But for me it is a place of great sadness.
While I am relieved that my innocence was proven and apparently I shall not be going to prison, I am in no way shape or form a happy man right now. The small inconveniences I have been through since my arrest are not noteworthy. People go through much worse daily and still keep a smile on their faces, but currently my smiles are far and few between. A young man is still dead, and his family still suffers. Please remember that fact. This family did no wrong, and have shown me great kindness – with silence, with actions, and finally with words – they spoke on my behalf to the court, and we had a private talk afterwards. All I will say about that is that they were very kind to me and displayed the utmost strength and class, and wished me a good life. They just want to get on with their lives the best they can. I wish them only the best, and will keep them in my thoughts and prayers. Please do the same – think good thoughts of them and healing thoughts for them. Trust me, they are good people, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart. They did NOTHING wrong.
This picture is from Kutna Hora, at the Sedlec Ossuary. I was there yesterday – like Prague, it is an amazing place. About this city, Kafka wrote: “Prague doesn’t let go… This old crone has claws. One has to yield, or else.” I have found this to be true. I am yielding, I am leaving a part of myself here, I think. Some bit of me will always roam these streets at night, and that is only fitting. Now I will go home and try to see what good I can make come out the destruction that occurred here – it is the only correct thing to do. Rest in peace, Daniel Nosek.

Carly Rae Jepson has cancelled her gig with the Boy Scouts of America because she doesn’t agree with their anti-gay policy. The Call Me Maybe singer released the reasons behind the cancellation of the concert. “As an artist who believes in equality for all people, I will not be participating in the Boy Scouts of America Jamboree this summer. I always have and will continue to support the LGBT community on a global level and stay informed on the ever changing landscape in the ongoing battle for gay rights in this country and across the globe.”
A petition is set to be put forth to Barack Obama to change America’s national anthem from the Star Spangled Banner to R Kelly’s hit single Ignition (Remix). The petition needs over 100,000 signatures before April second. If enough signatures are obtained, the petition will be sent to President Obama with the following accompanying letter.
“We, the undersigned, would like the Obama administration to recognise the need for a new national anthem. One that even a decade after its creation, is still hot and fresh out of the kitchen. America has changed since Francis Scott Key penned our current anthem in 1814. Since then, we have realised that after the show, it’s the afterparty, and that after the party, it’s the hotel lobby, and – perhaps most importantly – that ’round about four, you’ve got to clear the lobby, at which point it’s strongly recommended that you take it to the room and freak somebody. President Obama: we ask you to recognise the evolution of this beautiful country and give us an anthem that better suits the glorious nation we have become.”
You can sign the petition at the following address – https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/change-national-anthem-r-kellys-2003-hit-ignition-remix/Rm8SC7FP
