Century’s Biggest Selling Album Named

After a phenomenal year already Adele can add another accolade to her already growing catalogue. Her 2011 album 21, the follow up for debut album 19 has been named the century’s biggest selling album. The album has hit 3.4 million sales and has overtaken Amy Winehouse’s Back To Black album which held the title earlier this year.

Previous Ed Sheeran EPs to be Released

Ed Sheeran will be re-releasing his previous EPs on his own record label Paw Print Records. The EPs will be available to download as from December 12th.

Sinead O’Connor Marries Fourth Husband

Sinead O’Connor has tied the knot for the fourth time in Las Vegas whilst sitting in a pink Cadillac. The couple met when O’Connor infamously posted a “wanted” add on social networking site Twitter.

Re-release for The Undertones

The Undertones are set to re-release their two latest albums Get What You Need and Dig Yourself Deep to celebrate their 35th year. The Undertones are currently touring and with a 35 year long catalogue you can be sure to expect a great show.

Lifetime Achievement for Blur

The first of the BRIT nominations has been revealed. Blur have been named the band who will receive the coveted Lifetime Achievement award. Others who hold the title include Paul Weller, Robbie Williams and David Bowie.

Madonna to play Super Bowl

On one of the biggest televised music events in the American has announced that Madonna will headline. Super Bowl Sunday has previously seen some controversial acts such as the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction but in 2012 Madonna will play live. Can the controversial singer top a flash of the chest? We will keep you posted. So far it has been confirmed that she will perform with Cirque du Soliel.

Rebecca Ferguson is the Most Successful

According to Amazon Rebecca Ferguson is the most successful contestant of the 2010 reality TV talent show. The pre-orders of her album have surpassed others in her year such as Cher Lloyd and winner Matt Cardle.

Tulisa Named as a Top Star

X-Factor judge Tulisa Contostavlos has been named the third most magical person. In a poll whereby 1000 children were questioned the N-Dubz singer beat other X-Factor judge Kelly Rowland who came in sixth. The people who held the top two spots were named as 1 – Mum and 2 – Dad.

The Jezebels to Headline NME Awards Show

It has been announced that The Jezabels will headline the NME Awards Show in 2012. The dates will be for the shows will be revealed soon so keep an eye on our Live Announcements section.

Benton/Fenton the Dog for Christmas Number One

A dog has now entered the race for Christmas number one. The track Benton! Jesus Christ will be released December 18th by The Hoxtons featuring the cleverly titled Fenton Against the Machine and is currently being backed by BBC Radio 1 deejay Fearne Cotton.

Underworld to Score the London Olympics 2012

It has been announced that Underworld will be the Musical Directors of the 2012 London Olympics. The opening ceremony will see them work alongside Danny Boyle who has been announced as director. The team has worked together before with the Underworld duo Rick Smith and Karl Hyde having created music for several of Danny Boyle’s films.

And The Winner Is…

This years X Factor winner is Little Mix. The live final was held at Wembley Arena saw Amelia Lilly coming in third place. Marcus Collins and Little Mix battled it out for the top title, however the 1 million pound record contract went to Little Mix. Not sure this counts as music news but well done Little Muffins.
