Robin Gibb in a Coma

Robin Gibb, one third of the band Bee Gees has slipped into a coma following a bout of Pneumonia. Gibb is currently undergoing cancer of the colon and the liver.

The Script Sales Increase

Due to Danny O’Donoghue, frontman of The Script’s appearance on BBC Talent Show The Voice, there has been a massive increase in downloads of The Script’s music on Amazon.com. The sales increased by 1,400% and has made its way back into to the bestsellers list.

On Direction in Name Dispute

An American band has filed a law suit with British boy band One Direction over the rights to the band’s name. The US One Direction are seeking $630,000 in damages. Since filing the law suit the American band have received death threats from the UK One Direction fans. In other One Direction news, their single What Makes You Beautiful has reached the one million mark for sales.

Emile Sande to Appear on The Voice

It has been confirmed that Emile Sande will be the first artist to perform live on BBC talent show The Voice.

Twitter Rant: Love vs Grohl

Frances Bean Cobain has spoken out against her mother, Courtney Love, and her recent accusations regarding Dave Grohl. Love has accused Grohl of “hitting on” her daughter. Frances Bean Cobain had this to say about the dispute – “While I’m generally silent on the affairs of my biological mother, her recent tirade has taken a gross turn,” says Cobain. “I have never been approached by Dave Grohl in more than a platonic way. I’m in a monogamous relationship and very happy. Twitter should ban my mother.” Dave Grohl has also spoken out about the allegations stating that they “are upsetting, offensive and absolutely untrue.”

Charlie Simpson: Musician turned Actor

Charlie Simpson has taken on a role in a film with his fellow Fightstar band mates. The film is called In God We Trust.

Willy Nelson Statue

A statue to honour Willie Nelson has been erected in Austin, Texas. The bronze statue will be revealed on April 20th.

Joe Strummer Festival

A festival has been created to celebrate what would have been Joe Strummer’s 60th birthday. Whilst not all of the details of the festival have been released it is said that it will take place on August 17th – 19th at an undisclosed location. The festival is to be called Strummer of Love.

Jim Marshall: 1923 – 2012

The founder of Marshall Amplification has passed away. Jim Marshall’s amps are infamous in the music community and one of the best known and respected brands of amplification. An announcement made on his official website www.jimmarshall.co.uk to tell people of his passing. The statement later went on to say the following – “While the entire Marshall Amplification family mourns Jim’s passing and will miss him tremendously, we all feel richer for having known him and are happy in the knowledge that he is now in a much better place which has just got a whole lot louder!”

LA Phil LIVE, featuring Gustavo Dudamel, LA Philharmonic and Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra – European Cinema Event

The February 18th LA Phil LIVE performance of Mahler’s 8th Symphony: the “Symphony of a Thousand,” featuring Gustavo Dudamel, the LA Phil and the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela will be screened in cinemas internationally.
