Biggest Earner of 2011

Billboard has announced that Taylor Swift is the highest earner of 2011, out doing both Adele and Lady Gaga.

Reading and Leeds Acts Announced

The headliners for the Reading and Leeds Festival have been announced. Over the three day event Kasabian, Foo Fighters and The Cure will close each day of music. Make sure you check out the other acts that are performing over the August bank holiday weekend.

Jack Black vs Courtney Love

Courtney Love spoke out about The Muppets recently covering the iconic Nirvana track Smells Like Teen Spirit. She spoke with vehemence saying that her husband’s music is being “raped” by The Muppets interpretation. Jack Black has hit back against this by saying that he thinks her claim is “absurd”. Black featured in the recent Muppet movie and indeed in the scene were the song was performed.

Saturday’s Child

Una Healy of the girl band The Saturdays has given birth to a baby girl called Aoife Belle Foden. This is the first child for the singer and her fiancé ruby player Ben Foden. Congratulations.

Madonna Defends Adele

Madonna has hit back against Karl Lagerfeld’s comments about singer Adele’s weight. The Voguesinger said that Lagerfeld’s comments were “horrible” and “ridiculous”. She then offered Adele some advice saying “remember… whether you rise or fall, it has so much to do with how you sustain yourself and keep your integrity and your inner strength.” Right on, Madge.

Michael Hossack: 17th October 1946 – 12th March 2012

The Doobie Brothers bassist Michael Hossack has lost his battle with cancer. He was 65.

Springsteen’s 9th Number One

Wrecking Ball, the latest studio album from living legend Bruce Springsteen has gained him his 9thnumber one album position. This was the last album to be recorded featuring Clarence Clemmons who died last year. Clemmons was the saxophonist as part of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band. Springsteen has admitted to breaking down when he heard the finished track featuring Clemmons.

Chase and Status for DVD Release

A recording of Chase and Status live at Brixton Academy is due for release April 2nd. The DVD features eighteen live performances of their tracks along with a whole host of extras and a bonus live CD album.
