Pukkelpop Festival Stage Collapse

Just days after the Indiana State Fair tragedy, Belgium’s Pukkelpop Festival becomes the second festival of the summer to see it’s stage crash.  Though those on stage escaped without harm, 5 people were killed and over 100 injured.

London Hosts Nirvana Exhibition

With the 20th year anniversary release of Nirvana’s Nevermind imminent news has been released of a two week long exhibition in The Loading Bay Gallery’s on Brick Lane.  The date for the exhibition has yet to be confirmed however the current release date for the re-release of Nevermind is set for September 19th.

Bob Marley Charity Single Released

Over 150 global celebrities have united to support the re-release of Bob Marley’s single High Tide or Low Tide in support of the Save The Children’s East Africa Appeal.  Marley’s daughter Rita had this to say about the growing food shortages affecting East Africa – “Not one child should be denied food or water.  Not one child should suffer.  Along with Save the Children, we must stand up together as friends to put a stop to this, to feed our children and to save their lives.” Celebrities such as Lady Gaga, David Beckham and Beyonce have been promoting the single on their Facebook, MySpace and Twitter accounts.  The single costs 99p and can be downloaded by following either of the following links www.imgonnabeyourboyfriend.org or www.facebook.com/bobmarley.

Professor Green Announces Support

Details of Professor Green’s tour can be found on Music News: Monday 20th June.  Since then The Professor has announced the upcoming tour has had to be pushed back (check out the official website for more details) but support will come from Rizzle Kicks.

Nirvana Covers CD

Along with the events to coincide with the re-release of Nirvana’s Nevermind Battle for Seattle are releasing an album of Nirvana covers done in a Jamaican style.  The album is set for release in September 5th.

Violet Hill Covered by Brooke Fraser

Brooke Fraser is set to play five UK dates in October (for more information on these dates check Music News: Monday 23rd May 2011).  Check out her cover version of Coldplay’s Violet Hill recorded at Radio Hamburg.  Tickets are still available for her shows; make sure you get a ticket to see this stunning singer.  If you haven’t checked it out already then check out MTTM’s review of Brooke Fraser’s Flags by Catherine May.

David Lynch Debut Album Due For Release

Cryptic filmmaker David Lynch is set to release his debut album Crazy Clown Time in November.  He has penned and produced the tracks as well
as playing guitar and providing the vocals for the 14 track album.  If his music is anything like his movies then set to be blown away and confused in equal measure.

Wanda Jackson
