Jeff Beck has had to cancel his upcoming European tour citing a medical emergency as the reason why they tour won’t go ahead. The following statement was released on his website:
“It is with the greatest regret that Jeff Beck has been forced to cancel the forthcoming European dates of his worldwide tour, set to begin in Austria on 27 June. Following many months of international touring and after seeking emergency medical attention, Jeff will now undertake a short hospital procedure and his doctors have instructed a complete break from performance for a total of six weeks. Following the treatment, Jeff will fulfil his US tour commitments beginning in Missoula MT on 8th August. He sends his profound apologies to those fans who had bought tickets for the European concerts and very much looks forward to playing for his American audiences after he has completed his treatment.”
The Glastonbury festival took place this weekend. The three day event has been marred by the injury of one reveller who had to be airlifted out of the farm due to a back injury and by the death of one festival goer, a young man. It is believed that his death was drugs related. A further death of a pensioner happened on Friday night. Her death is believed to be of natural causes.
Bobby Womack passed away this weekend. The cause of death has yet t o be released. Womack was 70.
Tickets for performances from Arcade Fire and Neil Young were mispriced, selling at just £2.50 rather than £66. The tickets sold at this reduced price will be honoured.
Johnny McDaid, keyboardist with Snow Patrol and actress Courtney Cox have announced that they are engaged. Congratulations to the happy couple.
A Thousand Miles singer Vanessa Carlton has announced that she is expecting her first child. Congratulations.
Robert Plant will tour the UK in November.
