2012 Grammy Nominations Announced

The 2012 Grammy Nominee’s list has been issued with Kanye West leading the charge with seven nominations. Ending a phenomenal year for Adele the singer has been awarded six nominations including both Album and Single of the Year. The Award show, currently in its 54th year will be held February 12th in LA.

We Are Augustines Cover Bob Dylan

We Are Augustines have recorded a cover version of Bob Dylan’s Mama You’ve Been On My Mind for Chimes of Freedom: Songs of Bob Dylan Honouring 50 Years of Amnesty International. The proceeds from album sales will go to Amnesty International USA.

Amy Winehouse Set for Posthumous Number One

Pre-orders of Amy Winhouse’s Lioness: Hidden Treasures album have almost guaranteed a number one spot in the album chart. It has already outsold the pre-orders of her Back To Black LP seven times over. The album is set to feature rare tracks and new mixes. Lioness: Hidden Treasures is available now.

Last week’s X-Factor reject Janet Devlin has been offered a recording contract by Duncan Bannatyne of Dragon’s Den fame.

Ellie Goulding Christmas Appearance

Ellie Goulding is set to sing at the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in front of president Obama. Goulding is no stranger to singing at intimidating venues, earlier this year she performed at the Royal Wedding.

Big Price for Winehouse Dress

Since the death of Amy Winehouse many images have been bandied around however it is safe to say one of the most iconic of these is the one that graced the cover of her award winning Back to Black album. The dress that Winehouse wore on the cover has been auctioned off with a winning bid of £40,000, the winning bid coming from South American fashion museum, Museo de la Moda in Santiago.

George Michael Cancels Tour

Last week MTTM brought you news that George Michael had to pull out of two shows due to contracting pneumonia. Whilst Michael is said to be recovering in hospital and receiving the best care available he has had to pull out of the rest of the tour. Details of replacement dates are currently being worked on. Keep your eyes on the news for any further updates.

Conrad Murray Sentenced

The sentencing of Conrad Murray has been announced. Murray was found guilty of the involuntary death of the prince of pop and will serve a four year sentence. Michael Jackson’s family are unhappy with the given sentence. A statement issued by the family says “We are not here to seek revenge. There is nothing you can do today that will bring Michael back.” However they do dispute the amount of time Conrad will remain in jail.

Coldplay to Perform at X Factor Final

Coldplay are among the stars that are set to play the X Factor final. Others who have been scheduled to play are previous contestants Leona Lewis, One Direction and JLS. Adele was scheduled to perform but will not due to her recent throat surgery it has been confirmed that she will not appear on the reality talent show.

50 Cent and Pauly D Unite

Rapper 50 Cent has signed Jersey Shore star Pauly D to his label, G-Note. Pauly D is known for appearing in the reality TV show as well as being a sought after DJ.

Ken Russell: 3rd July 1927 – 27th November 2011

Cult filmmaker Ken Russell has died aged 84. Russell was known for many films including the 1975 movie production of The Who’s Tommy.

Chart History for Rhianna

Rhianna has broken chart records by becoming the first person to hold quadruple number one status. This week she was number one on the Official Album Chart, Official Singles Chart, Airplay Chart and TV Chart. Her current album Talk That Talk is available now.
