If you’re looking for a festival this summer that is affordable; but still has the best lineup and stunning scenery, then look no further than 2000 Trees. The multi-award winning event is back at Upcote Farm in the rolling Cotswold countryside from 12th – 14th July, and this year is jam-packed with even more music over the course of the weekend, as it graduates to a full three-day festival.
2000 Trees boasts four stages of musical talent over three days, along with an intimate Forest sessions stage. This year’s lineup is the strongest one yet from the festival’s twelve year history, offering mind-blowing rock from headliners At The Drive In, Twin Atlantic and Enter Shikari. Joining them are the likes of Arcane Roots, Black Foxxes, Mallory Knox, Blood Red Shoes, and The Xcerts; who will all be playing on the main stage over the course of the weekend.
If you want something heavy to get stuck into, then be sure to check out The Cave; which generally serves its music loud and lairy. Following their surprise last-minute performance at 2000 Trees last year; Palm Reader return for a set in The Cave on the Thursday, which promises to be well worth a watch. Whereas, Friday and Saturday offers New Jersey experimentalists Ho99o9 and metal legends Raging Speedhorn.
For something a little different, then The Axiom is perfect. Here you will find artists such as Black Honey, Dream Wife, Sick Joy and Queen Kwong playing genre-spanning sets. Alternatively; for the best in up and coming talent, then go to the Neu stage. In particular, keep an eye out for my ones to watch there this year; Chapter and Verse, Fangclub and Sun Arcana.
A particular highlight of the festival is the intimate Forest Sessions stage, where you can see the finest acoustic performances from the festival’s favourite artists past and present. This year, headliners Enter Shikari will be doing a very special stripped back performance which is bound to see the small woodland area packed out, and local lads Thrill Collins return to entertain with their own brand of Skiffle-pop mayhem.
You can also expect to find wonderful food and drink there from the finest local producers; and for those with more discerning tastes, Forest Feasts is new to the festival this year and offers an immersive three-course dining experience with exclusive performances for £75 a head. Another new initiative at the festival this year is the introduction of their cashless festival scheme, where all payments at the festival will be done electronically using wristbands.
Ticket prices range from £60 for a day ticket, up to £185 for the full weekend VIP experience; which is a fraction of the price of most major UK festivals. With only a month to go, tickets are already running low, so make sure you get yours from the 2000 Trees website soon!
