Following a delayed Birmingham Pride in September last year, the event has returned to its regular May Bank Holiday slot for 2023 and looks set to be even bigger and better than before. The spectacular Power in Pride weekend begins with the Big Free Community Event at Smithfield on Friday May 26th. This relaxed evening runs between 6pm and 10pm and features talks and performances from the likes of Fatt Butcher and Ginny Lemon, along with a beautiful candlelight vigil.

The main event runs from Saturday 27th to Sunday 28th May 2023, with five stages of entertainment each day, a street party, funfair, and the gargantuan Pride Parade, which features tens of thousands of participants marching for equality and justice. Beginning at Centenary Square at approximately 11am on the Saturday, the parade flows throughout Birmingham City Centre to arrive at the LGBTQ+ Village at approximately 12pm, and it is truly a colourful sight to behold.

Saturday’s Main Stage live music performances will be headlined by Sugababes, along with appearances from singer-songwriter Cat Burns, Noughties pop star Samantha Mumba and this year’s UK Eurovision representative, Mae Muller. There will also be a DJ set from Jodie Harsh and a performance from Drag Race UK winner Danny Beard.

Meanwhile, Sunday’s Main Stage hosts a duo of headliners from Nineties pop stars Gabrielle and B*Witched, along with sets from Atomic Kitten, Boney M, Caity Baser, Liberty X and Sweet Female Attitude. Birmingham drag icon Black Peppa will also make an appearance, along with a DJ set from TV presenter Rylan Clark.

During the weekend there will also be a variety of other stages and areas to explore, including performances from the likes of Paul Morrell, Sammy Virji and Girls Don’t Sync in the Dance Arena. If you adore a drag show, be sure to check out the Cabaret and the Carlos Medina stages, as they will host a plethora of wonderful drag artists and impersonators such as Tianna Biscuit, Lady Bushra, Don One and Yshee Black, who are sure to entertain you.

Birmingham Pride is a celebration of LGBTQ+ pride and community, where everyone unites to create a safe space while celebrating across the course of the weekend. Everyone is welcome, and if you’re looking for a fun and festive weekend in Birmingham, then be sure to check out Birmingham Pride 2023. It’s a celebration that you won’t want to miss!
