Preview: Cambridge Folk Festival 2013 – First Acts Announced

The first of our festival features for 2013 just had to be about Cambridge Folk Festival. The mother of all UK folk festivals, this year is shaping up to be another memorable line-up with the likes of rising stars Lucy Rose and Sam Lee already announced alongside Bellowhead, Martin Simpson, Kathryn Roberts & Sean Lakeman, Levellers and Bella Hardy (to name but a few). As ever, Cambridge also seem to be succeeding in pulling through State-side folk and roots acts with Larkin Poe, who went down a storm at Fairport’s Cropredy Convention last summer, also added to the bill for both Thursday and Friday.

One thing Cambridge is always very good at is pulling some surprise acts out of the bag, and this year is no exception on that score either with the welcome addition of KT Tunstall to Saturday’s line-up. Top that off with one of Jim Moray’s silent ceilidhs, a Saturday night Mavericks party and some impromptu sessions around the site and you’ve got the makings of a great festival.

More major names and Sunday night headliners are still to be announced, along with information about the workshops and other events which will doubtless be going on over the weekend.

For now, you can find up the line-up (so far) below, and buy tickets for the festival from www.cambridgefolkfestival.co.uk
