Preview: Irregular Folk’s Summer Session

Purveyors of some of the finest Oxfordshire based alt-folk, Irregular Folk are back with their summer session taking place at The Perch, Oxford on the 12th July. With an optional dress code of ‘English summer times old and new’ and a prize for the best dressed, as well as an optional boat ride home to the Folly Bridge, it promise a stunning musical line up with plenty of quirky touches to make it a day to remember (including tickets handmade by the artists on the line up for those who got in early).

Jess Hall is relatively well known on the Oxford scene, her stunning debut Bookshelves receiving great acclaim on its launch night. She promises to bring more of her delicate yet perfectly delivered vocals to the day. Meanwhile The May Birds offer up atmospheric folk, and Oxford favourite George Chopping will inevitably deliver more of his quirky poetry.

Elsewhere Rachel Gladwin and the Red Socks bring a more global influence, fusing influences from various cultures to culminate into a unique sound. You Are The Wolf offer avant-folk rooted in the more traditional, combined with leftfield contemporary sounds. THE IRREPRESSIBLES add a more operatic sound to the line up, whilst Salvation Bill bring a bluesy style to the proceedings. With Duotone, Steady Hands, Steph West and Ben Champion also joining the line up, there’s something to appeal to all tastes.
