Hello Josh! You’re about to embark on your UK tour this week. How are you feeling about it?
I could not be more excited. I really cannot wait to perform the show that we’ve put together for the UK Fans!
What can audiences expect from your live shows?
I would say a lot of energy for sure. We are all very passionate about music and I really feel it shows live.
I’d like to congratulate you on your latest release Walkways. It’s a wonderfully uplifting and mature album. How do you feel that the general reception has been so far to the new material?
Thank you for the kind words. The general reception has been great! Fans really seem to love it, which is all I can really ask for.
On the Walkways video you sent GoPro’s to friends worldwide in order to create an unique video collage of their day to day lives. What inspired you to make a video in this way?
My manager Andy actually came up with the idea. We felt it would be a really cool concept and very fitting considering that in the song I sing about a lot of different landscapes. I’m extremely pleased with the outcome.
While watching the video I also noticed a particularly adorable dog called Koda who has also appeared on your Instagram at times too. Is she your dog and do you miss her when you tour?
Yes, Koda is my dog! I definitely miss her a lot while I’m on tour. She’s the best dog for sure!
What’s your favourite thing about touring?
I love being able to perform music to different people in different cities every night. There’s something so cool about doing that.
How do you like to relax between shows?
To be honest there’s not a lot of relaxing time; but if there is, I like to walk around whatever city I’m in and explore.
What has been the biggest learning curve for you personally as an artist?
Probably learning the art of songwriting. I feel I’ve grown a lot in that area, but it’s always a challenge trying to one up yourself and write better songs.
Which other artists would you most like to work or tour with?
My go to answer on this is always usually Coldplay. I respect them so much. I also love the band The National, so it would be really cool to collaborate with them as well.
If you could be a superhero for the day, what would your secret power be and why?
It would definitely the ability to fly. That would truly be the most exhilarating feeling ever!
What are your plans (musically) for the rest of the year?
After this UK tour we don’t have any shows for the rest of the year. I will continue write new material for next year.
