The Roundhouse in Camden Town plays host this year to hot new festival Roundhouse Rising. This celebration of new and upcoming talent runs from Monday 21st until Saturday 26th February. The week long whirlwind of top tunes already looks set to be a festival with a difference!
Organised by the lovely people at Eat Your Own Ears and Featured Artist Coalition (to name but a few involved) Rising promises not only to showcase the best of fresh sounds but to further your musical education in workshops alongside the likes of Jon Mc Clure (Reverend & The Makers) and Didz (Dirty Pretty Things). It’s an opportunity not to be missed!
With acts to suit every musical taste you can’t really go wrong. Thrash out on Tuesday night with the post punk sounds of Roundhouse’s own LectricLax. Wednesday sees the party take on a world flavour with African folk and soul from Congolese artist Tres B and Afro rock and punk courtesy of United Vibrations.
Eat Your Own Ears take control on Thursday, treating gig goers to the hip hop of Ghost Eyes, the eclectic sounds of Prizes (formerly known as Treasure) and a performance from Bot’Ox. This musical selection box doesn’t stop there though, there are more acts to be added to the bill, watch this space!
Friday plays host to the delightfully named F**k The Whiteboard 2nd Anniversary Celebrations, featuring the synth pop of DT and Beaty Heart. They’re also set to share the stage with acts as yet to be announced.
The week finishes on a high courtesy of the nice folks at EKO. The penultimate evening kick starts with a healthy dose of hip hop in the form of DELS, swiftly followed by the dance rhythms of RoxXxan and the heart felt soul of Sampha. As with most of the performances this week, tickets for this musical triple-decker are a mere £5! A bargain no matter what way you look at it.
