Billed as Truck’s folkier, younger, cleaner, greener and mysteriously beardier brother, Wood is a celebration of all things natural. Set in the beautiful surroundings of Braziers Park in the Chilterns, the event aims to be as ecologically friendly as possible and festival-goers are even treated to a cycle powered cinema and disco. Run entirely on renewable energy, with composting toilets an organic cafe, the ethos of Wood seems to have been fully embraced since it’s first outing in 2007.
Aimed at educating people to make changes back at home, there is even the chance to get involved with composting, woodcraft and recycled wallet making workshops to atune those who are willing to embrace greener living. If environmental ideas aren’t your thing then there’s also a host of more active workshops including knitting, thatching and woodcraft. Children are equally catered for with activities such as fancy dress and story telling, making this a festival for the whole family.
Music-wise there’s plenty to get excited about too with Eliza Carthy Band, Willy Mason and Thea Gilmore are already confirmed to headline. Elsewhere you’ll find the likes of Trever Moss & Hannah Lou, Mama Rosin and 2011 Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition winners Treetop Flyers, as well as a whole host of locally sourced talent including The Epsten. The result is an impressive line up for such a small festival.
The fourth annual Wood festival takes place at Braziers Park, Oxfordshire on 20th/21st/22nd May. Weekend tickets cost £95 for adults and Junior (13-17 year olds) tickets are also available for a reduced rate of £65. Children under 12 get in free although anyone under 14 must be accompanied by a paying parent or guardian. Day tickets are also on sale.
